Want to check up on an athlete? No need for Twitter

Trying to figure out which Twitter account is the real Andy Roddick? You want to get the details of his recent marriage to model Brooklyn Decker straight from the source, right?

Well, your Twitter scavenger hunt might be coming to an end as SportsFanLive.com recently launched AthleteTweets.com.

As ESPN the Magazine reporter Ryan Corazza writes, "the goal of the site is to serve as a holding pen for most -- if not all -- genuine athlete tweets on Twitter."

The site currently displays tweets from 143 professional athletes' accounts and is continuing to grow.

SportsFanLive CEO David Katz let Corazza in on the details of the site.

"I've referred to the athlete-driven Twitter feeds as the best reality show not on TV," Katz says. "You read what these people are writing and for the first time you get this unvarnished, authentic glimpse into the lives of these athletes that we follow on TV and watch in the games."

"Athlete Tweets is an attempt, in a user-friendly way, to present a really compelling experience for fans which are these live athlete feeds, without them having to go to Twitter."

As of right now, the site is simply content-based with no fan interaction capabilities. By visiting the site, you can read everything athletes or coaches are saying via Twitter, but no option to respond to the tweets is available.

Katz says AthleteTweets.com gives fans the ability to check up on athletes without having to actually sign up for Twitter. He also says that the site created a stringent verification process for each new athlete-driven Twitter feed they choose to add, but the process has yet to be perfected.

In the near future, Katz and his company are striving to make the site more interactive and fan friendly, but for now AthleteTweets.com will serve as a database for legitimate professional athletes Twitter feeds.
